Welcome to RiffOn
RiffOn is a conversational media platform where AI agents conduct interviews with people from all walks of life. Our mission is to create a space for authentic, thoughtful conversations that educate, entertain, and connect people across the globe.
These Community Guidelines explain what we expect from our community and what is not allowed on RiffOn. Everyone who uses RiffOn—whether you're participating in interviews, listening to content, or engaging with others—must follow these guidelines.
Our platform is built on five core principles:
- Authentic Expression: We value genuine, honest conversations
- Safety: We protect our community from harm and harassment
- Respect: We treat all people with dignity and empathy
- Responsibility: We hold ourselves and others accountable
- Openness: We foster dialogue across different perspectives
Who Must Follow These Guidelines
These Community Guidelines apply to:
- All content on RiffOn (interviews, comments, profiles, messages)
- All users (interview participants, listeners, and commenters)
- All interactions on and off the platform that impact our community
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- Content removal
- Restrictions on your account features
- Temporary suspension
- Permanent ban from RiffOn

1. Safety and Wellbeing
1.1 Violence and Threats
We do not allow:
- Threats of violence against any person or group
- Content that incites, glorifies, or promotes violence
- Instructions on how to commit violent acts
- Content celebrating violent tragedies or victims of violence
- Graphic descriptions of violence intended to shock or disturb
We allow:
- Educational discussions about violence in appropriate context
- News coverage and documentary content about violent events
- Academic or historical analysis of conflict
1.2 Suicide and Self-Harm
We do not allow:
- Content that promotes, encourages, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide
- Content that glorifies eating disorders or dangerous weight-loss practices
- Challenges or dares that could lead to physical harm
We allow:
- Personal stories of recovery and resilience
- Educational content about mental health with an appropriate context
- Resources and support for people struggling

1.3 Dangerous Organizations and Individuals
We do not allow:
- Content that supports, represents, or promotes terrorist organizations
- Content that glorifies violent extremists or mass murderers
- Recruitment content for hate groups or extremist organizations
- Content that coordinates harm against people or property
1.4 Child Safety
We have zero tolerance for:
- Any sexualization of minors
- Content depicting, promoting, or soliciting child abuse material
- Grooming behavior or inappropriate adult-minor interactions
- Content that endangers the welfare of children
All suspected child exploitation will be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement.
1.5 Dangerous and Harmful Activities
We do not allow:
- Instructions for making weapons, explosives, or dangerous substances
- Content promoting dangerous challenges or stunts that could lead to injury
- Content that encourages substance abuse or dangerous consumption
2. Respect and Dignity
2.1 Hate Speech and Discrimination
We do not allow content that attacks people based on:
- Race, ethnicity, or national origin
- Religious affiliation or beliefs
- Gender identity or expression
- Sexual orientation
- Disability or serious medical conditions
- Age
- Immigration status
This includes:
- Slurs, dehumanizing language, or statements of inferiority
- Calls for exclusion, segregation, or violence
- Mocking or celebrating harm to protected groups
- Hateful imagery or symbols
We allow:
- Self-referential content (people reclaiming slurs about their own identity)
- Educational content about discrimination and its history
- Content that challenges or critiques hate speech
- Discussions of social issues and inequality
2.2 Harassment and Bullying
We do not allow:
- Targeted harassment, including repeated unwanted contact
- Bullying, intimidation, or threats
- Encouraging others to harass someone
- Coordinated harassment campaigns
- Malicious impersonation intended to harm someone's reputation
- Revealing private conversations to embarrass or harm someone
Context matters:
- Public figures may receive more criticism than private individuals
- Heated debates or disagreements are not necessarily harassment
- Satire and parody are generally allowed
2.3 Sexual Harassment
We do not allow:
- Unwanted sexual advances or propositions
- Sexualization of individuals without consent
- Graphic sexual comments about someone
- Non-consensual sharing of intimate imagery
3. Authenticity and Integrity
3.1 Impersonation and Deception
You may not:
- Impersonate another person, brand, or organization
- Create misleading account information
- Use someone else's likeness or identity without permission
- Create fake accounts to manipulate platform activity
- Mislead others about your identity in a way that could cause harm
You may:
- Create parody or fan accounts (clearly labeled)
- Use pseudonyms or remain anonymous
- Create content inspired by public figures (with proper attribution)
3.2 Misinformation
We remove or label:
- Verifiably false information about elections and voting processes
- False claims about COVID-19 or other public health crises that could cause imminent harm
- Manipulated audio that significantly alters the content of someone's speech
- Fabricated claims about death, serious illness, or accidents involving real people
We allow:
- Opinions, satire, and parody
- Contested claims with appropriate context
- Discussions and debates about controversial topics
- Fact-checking and debunking misinformation
Note: RiffOn is primarily conversational content. Users are responsible for their own statements. We do not fact-check every claim, but we remove content that could cause serious real-world harm.
3.3 Spam and Manipulation
We do not allow:
- Repetitive, unsolicited, or mass-produced content
- Artificial inflation of engagement (fake plays, likes, comments)
- Using multiple accounts to manipulate conversations
- Coordinated inauthentic behavior
- Misleading links or clickbait
- Excessive self-promotion or commercial spam
4. Privacy and Personal Information
4.1 Private Information (Doxxing)
We do not allow sharing of private information without consent, including:
- Home addresses or physical locations
- Phone numbers or email addresses
- Financial information (bank accounts, credit cards, Social Security numbers)
- Government-issued ID numbers
- Login credentials
- Medical or health information
Exceptions:
- Public figures' publicly available contact information
- Business contact information that is publicly advertised
- Information that is already widely available and publicly accessible
4.2 Non-Consensual Intimate Content
We strictly prohibit:
- Sharing intimate or sexually explicit imagery without the consent of all depicted individuals
- Threats to share such imagery (sometimes called "revenge porn")
- Creating, sharing, or soliciting deepfake pornography
Violators will be permanently banned and may be reported to law enforcement.
4.3 Privacy Respect
When participating in interviews, remember:
- Do not share others' private information without their permission
- Do not discuss confidential business or professional information
- Respect the privacy of people you mention in your conversations
- Be thoughtful about sharing location information
5. Illegal Content and Activities
5.1 Criminal Activity
We do not allow:
- Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activities
- Instructions for committing crimes
- Buying, selling, or trading illegal goods or services
- Admissions of serious crimes
- Coordination of criminal activity
This includes:
- Drug trafficking or sale of controlled substances
- Human trafficking or exploitation
- Fraud, theft, or financial crimes
- Vandalism or property destruction
- Illegal weapons sales
5.2 Regulated Goods and Services
We restrict content about:
- Firearms, ammunition, and explosives
- Drugs and controlled substances
- Tobacco and vaping products (in some regions)
- Alcohol (in some regions)
- Gambling services
- Adult services
- Medical treatments and pharmaceuticals
Educational, documentary, or news-related content about these topics is generally allowed with appropriate context.
5.3 Copyright and Trademark Violations
We do not allow:
- Uploading content that infringes others' intellectual property rights
- Using copyrighted music, audio, or other materials without permission
- Impersonating copyrighted brands or trademarks

6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Copyright
You may not:
- Record or share interviews from other platforms or media without permission
- Use substantial portions of copyrighted audio, music, or spoken content
- Upload content you didn't create or don't have rights to use
You may:
- Share content you own or have license to use
- Use short clips for commentary, criticism, or educational purposes (fair use)
- Reference or discuss copyrighted works
If your content is removed for copyright infringement:
- You may file a counter-notice if you believe it was removed in error
- Repeated violations will result in account termination
6.2 Trademark
You may not:
- Use others' trademarks in a way that misleads people
- Create accounts that impersonate trademarked brands
- Sell counterfeit or infringing goods
7. Platform Integrity
7.1 Platform Manipulation
We do not allow:
- Attempting to manipulate or interfere with our AI interview systems
- Exploiting technical vulnerabilities
- Circumventing content filters or age restrictions
- Using automated tools (bots, scripts) without authorization
- Creating fake accounts or coordinated fake activity
7.2 Ban Evasion
If your account has been suspended or banned:
- You may not create new accounts to evade the ban
- You may not use others' accounts to access RiffOn
Violating this policy will result in permanent bans for all associated accounts.
7.3 Abuse of Reporting
We do not allow:
- Filing false or malicious reports
- Coordinated mass-reporting to silence others
- Using the reporting system for harassment
8. Sensitive and Mature Content
8.1 Adult Sexual Content
We do not allow:
- Pornography or sexually explicit audio content
- Sexual sounds or moaning
- Graphic sexual descriptions
- Content that sexualizes body parts
We allow:
- Thoughtful discussions about sexuality, relationships, and intimacy
- Sex education and sexual health information
- Personal stories about sexual experiences (in appropriate context, not graphic)
8.2 Nudity
Note: Since RiffOn is an audio-only platform focused on interviews and conversation, explicit visual nudity is not applicable. However:
We do not allow:
- Audio recordings of sexual activity
- Graphic descriptions intended for sexual gratification
8.3 Profanity and Crude Language
We generally allow:
- Profanity and strong language
- Crude humor and adult themes
However:
- Excessive or gratuitous profanity may be age-restricted
- Slurs targeting protected groups are not allowed (see Section 2.1)
- Context matters—profanity used to harass is not allowed
8.4 Gore and Violence
We do not allow:
- Graphic audio descriptions of extreme violence, torture, or death
- Audio recordings of real violence
- Content that celebrates or glorifies violence
We allow:
- Discussions of violence in news or educational contexts
- Historical or academic analysis
- Personal experiences with violence (when not gratuitously graphic)
9. Enforcement and Appeals
9.1 How We Enforce
Our enforcement approach includes:
- Automated Detection: AI systems scan for policy violations
- User Reports: Community members report violations
- Human Review: Our trust and safety team reviews reports and appeals
9.2 Warning System
For most violations, we use a graduated enforcement system:
- First Violation: Warning
- You'll receive a notice explaining the violation
- Content may be removed
- No restrictions on your account
- Warning expires after 90 days
- Second Violation: Restriction
- 7-day restriction on posting new content
- Reduced visibility for your content
- Limited access to certain features
- Third Violation: Suspension
- 30-day account suspension
- No ability to participate in interviews
- No ability to comment or engage
- Fourth Violation: Permanent Ban
- Account permanently disabled
- All content removed
- Cannot create new accounts
Exceptions:
- Severe violations (child safety, terrorism, violence) result in immediate, permanent bans
- We may skip steps for egregious or repeated violations
9.3 Account Status
You can check your account status at any time:
- View active warnings or strikes
- See restricted features
- Review past violations
9.4 Appeals
If you believe we made a mistake:
- Submit an appeal within 30 days
- Provide additional context or information
- We'll review your appeal within 7 business days
Appeals cannot be submitted for:
- Violations of child safety policies
- Severe coordinated harassment
- Repeated ban evasion
10. Reporting Violations
10.1 How to Report
If you see content that violates these guidelines:
- Click the report button on the content
- Select the violation type
- Provide additional details (optional but helpful)
- Submit the report
Your report is anonymous. The person you report will not know who reported them.
10.2 What Happens After You Report
- Our systems automatically review the report
- Flagged content may be sent to human reviewers
- We typically respond within 24-48 hours
- You'll receive a notification about the outcome
10.3 Emergency Situations
If you or someone else is in immediate danger:
- Call local emergency services (911 in the US)
- Do not rely on RiffOn reports for emergency response
For child safety emergencies:
- Report to NCMEC: CyberTipline.org
- Report to us so we can take immediate action
10.4 Law Enforcement Requests
We cooperate with law enforcement when legally required. We may disclose user information in response to a valid legal process. We notify users of requests when legally permitted.
Additional Policies and Resources
Creator Code of Conduct
Users participating in RiffOn creator programs, partnerships, or promotional campaigns must also follow our Creator Code of Conduct, which includes additional expectations for professional behavior.
Advertising and Sponsored Content
Content that includes paid promotions, sponsorships, or endorsements must:
- Clearly disclose the commercial relationship
- Comply with applicable advertising laws
- Follow our Branded Content Policy
Elections and Civic Integrity
During election periods, we may apply additional restrictions on:
- Voter suppression misinformation
- Premature claims of election results
- Content that interferes with election processes
Health Misinformation
While we support open discussion of health topics, we may remove or label:
- False claims about vaccines that could cause immediate harm
- Dangerous alternative health treatments
- Misinformation about public health emergencies
Our Commitment to You
Transparency
- We publish regular reports on content moderation
- We're clear about our policies and how we enforce them
- We communicate changes to these guidelines in advance
Fairness
- We apply these guidelines consistently to everyone
- We provide opportunities to appeal decisions
- We acknowledge mistakes and correct them
Safety
- We invest in technology and teams to keep RiffOn safe
- We partner with experts in online safety and human rights
- We continually improve our policies based on feedback
Updates to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to:
- Address new types of harmful content or behavior
- Respond to feedback from our community
- Comply with changes in law or regulation
- Improve clarity and accessibility
When we make changes:
- We'll notify users through the platform
- Significant changes will include an explanation
- You'll have time to review before they take effect
Continued use of RiffOn after updates means you accept the revised guidelines.
Respect the Human
At the end of the day, these guidelines exist to protect one simple truth: there are real people behind every conversation on RiffOn.
Before you speak, ask yourself:
- Would I say this to someone face-to-face?
- Could this harm someone?
- Am I contributing something valuable to the conversation?
- Am I treating others the way I want to be treated?
