Highly polished, professional content can create distance between the creator and viewer. Raw, unpolished videos filmed on a phone feel more like a conversation with a friend, fostering authenticity and connection in an era of high consumer skepticism.
Don't force yourself into a format you find difficult or time-consuming, like talk-to-camera videos. Success comes from consistency. Choose a format that is easy for you to produce, whether it's simple carousels made in-app, B-roll with text, or photo dumps.
Your content's sweet spot is the intersection of your expertise and what you're genuinely excited about. Audiences can feel your passion, or lack thereof. If you're not excited to post something, it will likely flop because the disinterest is palpable to viewers.
In a sea of content, you must make viewers feel seen. Explicitly name their identity in your hook, whether by location, generation, or a shared experience (e.g., "2027 brides in DC," "shy creator"). This forces them to stop scrolling because the content is directly for them.
Hyper-specificity triggers audience recognition and engagement. Instead of "homeowners," say "women who just bought a home." Instead of "rock and roll," use "Pink Floyd." Review your hook before posting and add one detail that makes a specific group feel it's made just for them.
Traditional "how-to" headlines position you as a distant expert. Reframing content from your personal perspective ("How I...", "My favorite...") transforms the message into advice from a trusted friend who has already gone through the experience, making it more relatable and trustworthy.
While your main hook grabs attention, add a secondary line of text on-screen that explains why someone should listen to you. A phrase like "from someone who studies viral content for a living" provides immediate credibility without saying it out loud, answering the viewer's unspoken "Why should I care?"
Treat Trial Reels and your main feed as separate distribution channels. Post a video to Trials (which targets non-followers) first. A few hours later, post the same video again as a new, separate upload to your main feed for your existing audience. This maximizes reach to both groups.
